Winter Moments With Flowers - For Individuals & Small Groups By Air
Fleuramour Winter Moments with Flowers is the world's biggest festive floral event.
Organised by international flower magazine Fleur Creatif and held in Bruges’ historic Oud Sint-Jan hospital, this five day exhibition attracts floral designers from across the world.
Master florists and amateur floral designers alike come together to create innovative, Christmas-themed displays, such as trees made from red Azaleas, wreaths composed of Silver Stachys leaves mixed with lime green Chrysanthemums and extraordinary floral table designs, all of which will inspire visitors to create their own seasonal decorations.
The festival also offers an exciting programme of workshops and demonstrations and, when you have watched the experts at work, you'll have the chance to shop for the materials they used at the many stalls on site.
Bruges is one of Europe’s most beautiful cities; a place of picturesque cobbled streets, romantic canals and photogenic market squares. Our tour allows plenty of time to explore the sites, including the famous Christmas Market.

It would be hard to imagine a more picturesque city than Bruges. Boasting cobbled streets lined with perfectly preserved medieval buildings, romantic canals and more horse drawn carts than cars, it is a UNESCO world heritage city made to be discovered on foot.
Wrap up well, put on some comfortable shoes and begin your walking tour at the 13th century Belfry (or Belfort) in Markt Square. Probably the most famous site in the city, this 83m tall tower was built as a treasury, municipal archive store and observation post. If you have the energy to climb the 366 steps to the top, you will be rewarded with the most magnificent views out across the old spires and red-tiled rooftops of Bruges and on towards Zeebrugge's very 21st century wind turbines and cranes.
Burg Square, which is linked to Markt Square by the short, shop-lined street of Breidelstraat, is the historic heart of the city. Here you will find the magnificent 14th century Gothic Stadhuis (town hall) from where Bruges was governed for 600 years, the equally impressive Old Civil Registry and the beautifully ornate, gilded façade of the Basilica of the Holy Blood. This unusual double church (there's a lower, Romanesque church and a neo-Gothic upper one) contains a venerated relic of the Holy Blood.
A narrow alleyway, Blinde Ezelstraat, next to the Stadhuis takes you to the tree-lined Groenerei (the ‘Green Canal’), the city’s prettiest canal. Often called the ‘Venice of the North', Bruges’ canals criss-cross the city and just wandering along their banks and over the many romantic bridges is a lovely way to pass an hour or two.
St. Bonifacius Bridge, which lies just behind the 13th-century Onze Lieve Vrouwe (Church of Our Lady), home to Michelangelo’s Madonna and Child sculpture, is the quintessential fairy tale bridge, while Augustijnenbrug and Vlamingbrug are believed to be the oldest surviving bridges in the city.
Look out for the low-slung benches carved into the stone which were built as platforms for merchants to display their wares. The Minnewater Bridge over the Lake of Love in the southern part of the city, is reputed to grant eternal love to any couple who kiss as they cross it.
The 15th and 16th century group of artists known as the Flemish Primitives were centred in Bruges and the Groeninge Museum now houses the finest collection of these paintings in the world. Masterpieces on show include work by Jan van Eyck, Hans Memling, Hugo van der Goes and Gerard David.
Not far from Groeninge Museum is Oud Sint-Jans Hospital, home to Winter Moments with Flowers. One of the best preserved hospital buildings in Europe, it has a history of caring for pilgrims, travellers, the poor and the sick that stretches back over 800 years. When you have seen all the floral displays, make time to seek out the six masterpieces by Flemish Primitive artist Hans Memling, as well as the museum’s fascinating collection of furniture, medical instruments and silverware.
The city is also famous for its lace, beer and chocolate and there are museums dedicated to all three. Kantcentrum tells the fascinating story of Bruges' lace, Choco-Story traces the journey of chocolate from cocoa bean to truffle, while the Bruges Beer Museum gives you the chance to sample three different beers.
Bruges’ narrow, cobbled streets and distinctive, step-gabled houses are made for Christmas.
Illuminated ice sculptures bring a touch of magic to the city centre, while Markt Square itself is transformed into a fairy tale scene of wooden chalets and twinkling lights.
There has been a market in Markt Square since 958 and each year, from late November through to New Year’s Day, this historic location forms the centre of Bruges’ famous Christmas Market.
With hundreds of stalls selling everything from prettily packaged chocolates and unusual decorations to unique artisan gifts (look out for the ‘Handmade in Brugge’ label), it is the perfect place to begin your festive shopping.
When you have bought all you need, you can take a spin or two on the ice rink before treating yourself to a glass of Glühwein or a hot chocolate at one of the area’s many cosy cafes.
