A Natural Print & Dye Workshop in the home of the King of the Swedish Forest

'Botanical printing is a fascinating technique where colours and patterns from flowers and leaves are transferred to fabric. I first came across it via social media almost ten years ago. It was something completely new and I was fascinated! And somehow it wove together my desire to interact more with nature, sustainability and at the same time develop my textile arts.

I started experimenting to find out how it was done then found a week-long course in the Netherlands where I learned the basics. Since then, I have been taking more courses, learning more and I still enjoy the endless possibilities of varying and using the printed fabrics as works of art, starting points for embroidery and incorporating them into unique garments. For me, it's more than just a technique: it's an art and a joy. When your hand works, your soul can rest.

That is the feeling I do my best to share during my workshop. Participants will get to try out botanical printing and create unique, textile works that can be mounted and hung on the wall. The works can also be embellished with embroidery or added as decoration to a garment or a bag. All materials, including suitable plant material, are on site and participants will have the opportunity to take a walk and collect the leaves themselves. 

My workshop takes place in Moose Garden, a rescue farm for moose calves injured in - or orphaned by - car accidents. The surrounding forest and fields are filled with leaves and plants for natural dyeing and botanical printing and there's a beautiful view over the Oviken mountains and the Storsjön lake. If you're lucky, the sea monster Storsjöodjuret might even show itself!'
