Berlin is a fascinating location in Germany. For so long it has been watched by the world as a city dividing the East physically from the West but today the city is the perfect example of a melting pot for cultures from everywhere. It has about it the essence of renewal and the gravity of history in every street. There is new and exciting architecture aside the older structures like the government buildings. The city is evolving at a rate of speed.

Something that a lot of visitors realise when exploring is that Berlin is has a great deal of green space, in fact there are 2,500 public green spaces in all! Many green spaces are populated with interesting sights and people, like the long area of grass along Prenzlauer Berg’s Mauerpark, where city folk relax or market traders sell their wares. In the west end of Berlin you can find the palace and garden complex of Schloss Charlottenburg which some have compared to a smaller scale Versailles.

There are plenty of museums to take in including the Bauhaus Museum with its permanent exhibition which includes furniture, ceramics, prints, sculptures, photographs and sketches, created in the workshop there. There are in fact a great many places in the city for the art-lover to engage with.

If you want retail therapy there is vast abundance of shopping areas in Berlin, some of which are very recent in arrival to the city – such as North Mitte with its many boutiques and range of independent shops.

For a city that has reinvented itself so dramatically there are equal measures of excitement and quiet charm about this destination, a location which has been so important and central to the way we view the world today.
