Antwerp Christmas Market
Antwerp makes for a wonderful Belgian themed Christmas getaway with open air Christmas market stalls offering an array of special gifts and an ice rink to skate on.
An event visited by tens of thousands of people every year, the Christmas Market in Antwerp forms a winding trail through the city centre from Steenplein to Grote Markt (main square, city hall). It is also spread out in front of the old castle, making for an unforgettably magical vision of Christmas.
A beautiful ice skating rink is next to the fountain of Brabo in the middle of the square and there are Christmas concerts in the evening to enjoy. You can see the giant Christmas trees dotted around the different market areas and there are many Belgian specialities in cuisine that can be sampled at the wooden stalls under colourful Christmas lights.
